Let customers speak for us
from 12 reviewsThis book presents such an amazing story. My daughter is in 5th grade and she attends a public school in Argentina. She will be presenting this book as her favorite one for other students to read in her class. She loves the illustrations that make reading more fun. She read the book 6 times! Her favorite part is when the kids teach Miss Morena sign language. Her favorite character is Miriam and she also loves that after reading the book she learned sign language and the importance of communication.
I highly recommend reading the book and inspiring students to learn life skills while they acquire the language in such a fun way.
We read this amazing book with my kids and it was such an amazing experience. My daughter felt so identified with Maritsa and all the emotions she goes through in the story. She also understood that having her hair in multiple styles is awesome. She embraced and appreciated her curly hair even more. I love how this story supports life skills that we all need to reflect on from early childhood. I highly recommend this book and I know your students will enjoy it.
My son is in 3rd grade in Argentina and he loves reading books. He really enjoyed this story and didn't stop reading it until the end. He loves "Capivaras" as he saw them at a National park here and he was fascinated by Nico's adventure. I'm sure that your students will also enjoy this amazing story and they will engage with the language in such a natural way.

In this page turner, we enter the world of a young girl whose life is intertwined with the technology around her. Despite the challenges of displacement caused by Hurricane Maria, Laura finds companionship in the form of Eva, a device her mother helped design, to bring convenience, comfort and safety to her home. Eva, a smart speaker, is designed to hurricane-proof homes in case of an emergency. However, what happens when the speaker goes rogue and doesn't want Laura to leave the house? Find out if Laura escapes, and explore the complexities of reliance on technology and what happens when it doesn't work as expected. Accessible to beginner students, this exciting book is a great first novel for students middle school aged and up!
In this reader, students are treated to a duo of stories, starring two adorable animals, that spark the imagination and warm the heart. Tito, with his incredible imagination, takes readers through the ruins of Machu Picchu, with his imagination turning the ruins into the home of his dreams (great for reviewing house vocabulary). While in the second story, Ponce explores Venezuela in search of a sport that suits his slow and steady nature. Through Ponce's tale, readers are reminded of the importance of perseverance, self-discovery, and being true to oneself. This book is perfect for younger Spanish students who will connect with the animals on their adventures!
In this book readers journey into the vibrant world of the Panamanian jungle alongside a young ñeque named Nico. With an appetite for black palm seeds, Nico's quest takes an unexpected turn when a formidable creature interrupts his snack time. Through vivid imagery and engaging storytelling, readers accompany Nico as he searches for his black palm seed, recalling his steps in pursuit of his buried treasure. There are many fun classroom activities that would go well with this reader, as well as cross curricular connections to science. Lots to enjoy!
In this book readers are transported into the heart of an unimaginable struggle for survival. Based on the true story of the Uruguayan rugby team's harrowing ordeal in the Andes mountains, this Spanish novel offers a gripping narrative that will captivate students and inspire readers of all ages. As the passengers of Flight 571 face fearsome challenges, Roberto Canessa and Nando Parrado refuse to succumb to despair. "Surviving the Andes" is not just a story of survival—it is a testament to the strength of the human will and the bonds of friendship that can withstand even the most dire circumstances.
This novel, a true story about a woman who believed in equal rights for all, gave me chills from the first page. María Cano was a woman who loved to read. She wanted to do more than was expected of women of her time. She shared her love of reading with people who were not able to read. María then moved on to fight for worker's rights across Colombia. She was a woman ahead of her time, and her belief in equality is inspiring. A wonderful novel for upper level students!
This is the inspiring true story of Juana Ramírez, a woman who fought incredible odds to achieve her dream. Juana was born as an enslaved woman, but decided to risk everything to join the revolution against Spain, in the hopes of achieving freedom. Juana convinced the army that women could be more than just washers and menders, and fought with other women for her freedom.
I was looking for a reader to recommend to my students so they can develop language proficiency and reading for pleasure outside our class time. I started reading Chelsea's story and was so excited to know what was coming next. This story is fantastic and helps discuss with our students ways to overcome challenges in the best possible way. This is what I plan to do with my students and I also know there will be amazing conversations that will arise from the story. I highly recommend it!
This book has so many awesome elements! First off, the story is written very comprehensibly, but packs in powerful messages - including ones about determination, passion, making change in the world, respect for others and all living beings, and conservation. The illustrations are unique and beautiful, capturing the scenes, setting, and characters so well! I could see both upper-elementary-aged learners enjoying this book immensely as well as older students (even adult learners!) - the plot and illustrations are relatable to a wide group of people. Plus, there are so many opportunities for extension - some of which are included in the wonderful online activities and end-pages. I highly recommend this reader!
